Chapter 2

The Cell Phone

When Jeremy awoke he saw electric currents pulsating throughout his body. Lifting his arms the electricity connected to other parts of his body.
Suddenly all of the electric current was gone in an instant.
How long was he out? He didn't know, because his clock was broken from the lightning.
He got up cautiously thinking his back would hurt, but he felt fine?
I'll probably feel it in the morning he thought.
Jeremy couldn't believe what just happened! The blood in his body was still felt very irregular. I should have been killed he thought...
Since his clock was broke he would have to use his cell phone to wake up for work. Luckily his cell phone was down stairs. Because everything in his room that was electrical, was not working at all.
So he went downstairs through the hallway and into the kitchen. Stopped for a second and there it was on the counter. Walking toward it, he reached and somehow shot a volt out of his hand and exploded the phone into bit's.
Jeremy stood there astonished.
Staring at all the pieces blown apart, there was a dark burn mark where he went right through the phone and into the counter. Still showing embers it smoked and then went out.

Chapter 1

Sleepless

Lying awake Jeremy could not sleep. The storm outside was getting closer, depicting by the sounds of thunder. While the lightning lit up the sky to the west of him.
Jeremy was 30 years old and still worked hard as a construction worker. It was hard work but Jeremy liked the fact that it was almost as if he was playing on a jungle gym when he worked. Walking along beams like it was a tight rope. Often hanging from them acting like a monkey till his boss would catch him threatening that if he didn't stop he would be fired. Of course he would laugh at that notion, knowing his boss would probably never fire him.
Jeremy turned over frustrated. He didn't want to be late again for work even if his boss wouldn't fire him, he still wanted his pay check to be at it's fullest.
The storm was suddenly on top of him, over his bedroom through the second story window turning back over he could see the lightning fill the sky all around.
Jeremy got up to lite a cigarette and then leaned on the frame of his window, watching the storm with the lights off.
He remembered being scared of storms as a kid, hiding under tables. But growing out of it he was now fascinated by storms. Except for when of course it kept him up at night, like this particular night.
Then he noticed something odd? A circle of what seemed to be heat lightning gathered more and more, getting closer and closer to him. Finally slowing down almost directly over his house. Jeremy strained looking upward. The immense array of lightning circled over him, he put out his cigarette and stood on his bed near the window to see better.
Filled with rage, it grew larger getting brighter in the center spitting out bits of lightning bolts. Then it gathered up and struck Jeremy through the window in the chest, shattering the glass and throwing him across the room and into the door.
Jeremy lay there motionless on the floor...
